WakeBuddy

New on the App StoreTalking alarm clock for iPhone

Wake up to a voice, not a beep.

WakeBuddy is an alarm that talks. A cat who wants breakfast, a sweet-talking girlfriend or a drill sergeant wakes you up instead of a ringtone. Snooze, and they come back tougher. To turn it off, say your wake-up phrase out loud.

How it works

The alarm you have to talk to.

A beep is easy to sleep through. Someone talking to you is not. And once you’ve said something out loud, it’s a lot harder to drift back to sleep.

  1. 11:40pmThe night before

    Pick who wakes you up

Seven characters with their own voices and jokes, from a drill sergeant to a cat who wants breakfast. Or record your own voice.

  2. 7:05amRound 2 of 3

    Snooze, and they get tougher

You get five more minutes. Then the character comes back louder and a lot less patient.

  3. 7:06amUp

Say your phrase to turn it off

The alarm stops when you say today’s wake-up phrase out loud. Someone asleep next to you? Type it instead.

Questions

Before you trust it with 7 a.m.

What is WakeBuddy?

WakeBuddy is a talking alarm clock app for iPhone. A character wakes you up with their voice instead of a ringtone, gets tougher every time you snooze, and stops only when you say your wake-up phrase out loud.

Does it ring in Silent mode and Focus?

Yes. WakeBuddy uses the iPhone alarm system (AlarmKit), so alarms ring in Silent mode and during Focus, like the Clock app. Open the app once after installing and allow alarms.

Is my voice recorded?

No. WakeBuddy listens only while an alarm is ringing, to check your phrase. Speech recognition runs on your iPhone, and audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

What if I can’t talk out loud?

Type the phrase instead. If you really need to, there’s also an emergency off.

What happens when I snooze?

You get five more minutes. Then the character comes back louder and less patient, and each round is tougher than the last.

Which languages does it speak?

English, Japanese, Spanish and German. Characters, phrases and jokes are written and voiced for each language.

How much does it cost?

WakeBuddy is free with one alarm and Sarge. Premium unlocks every character, unlimited alarms and your own voice: weekly, yearly with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase.

Which iPhones are supported?

Any iPhone that runs iOS 26 or later.

How is it different from other alarm apps for heavy sleepers?

Many hard-to-dismiss alarms make you solve math or scan a barcode. WakeBuddy makes you talk instead: a character you actually want to answer and a phrase you say out loud. It’s meant to be funny, not punishing.
